Campaign to popularise physics
A NATIONWIDE campaign has been launched by the Department of Science and Technology to popularise physics among students. Under this programme, the activity ?Excitement in Physics? was inaugurated today by Ewing Christian College principal Dr M Massey, who dwelt upon the importance of Physics in daily life.

Under this programme, the activity ‘Excitement in Physics’ was inaugurated today by Ewing Christian College principal Dr M Massey, who dwelt upon the importance of Physics in daily life.
In his inaugural address, he laid stress on the role of teacher in promoting popularity of Physics or any other subject. He further said that application of Physics was aimed at relieving mental stress and lessening hard labour. The aim of Physics was to discover truth of and its verification so that the society could get rid of superstitions, he said.
The programme started by lighting of lamp by Dr M Massey, Dr Awadhesh Kr Singh, Dr M Masood and Dr OP Gupta. Thereafter Dr Awadhesh Kr Singh welcomed the guests and students.
District co-ordinator of Physics popularisation programme, Dr Mohd Masood threw light on the objective of this programme and said that students were losing interest in Basic Sciences and were more interested in the study of technical courses. Therefore, it had become necessary to popularise Physics.
Dr OP Gupta spoke on the inventions of the Golden Decade (1895 to 1905).
Students of Ewing Christian College and Kulbhaskar Ashram Degree College exhibited low cost experiments and explained the basic principles involved therein under the supervision of Dr Anajane Kumar Singh, programme co-ordinator and Dr Anil Kumar Singh, reader in Physics department of ECC.
Dr Kiran Shankar, Principal CMP Degree College will inaugurate the programme on October 10 and the concluding session will be presided over on October 11 by Prof Hari Prakash.
