Career fair of great help to students
Speaking at the inaugural function of the Career Fair organised by the Allahabad University (AU) Employment Information and Guidance Bureau at Nirala Sabhagar, Delegacy Bhawan here on Tuesday, Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University Prof Rajen Harshe said the Career Fair had proved to be of great help to the students . Such activities were really encouraging and would certainly help the students in deciding about their career, he said.

Regional director, Staff Selection Commission, Allahabad zone RK Yadav , who was the guest of honour, also addressed the gathering.
Several companies and organisations had put up their stalls to create awareness among the students about different career options. The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) had conducted a survey to find out whether students were interested in management studies. The ICFAI also held an interactive session to apprise the students of various opportunities in the field of management.
The Life Insurance Corporation of India conducted counselling for the post of career agent. Ruchi’s Kala Academy, Allied Health Services affiliated to Sikkim Manipal University, Frankfinn Institute for air hostesses, Jeevan-Jyoti Para Medical Institute, Small Scale Industries in Naini and Trishul Academy for Defence Services also provided information to the students regarding their career.
Apart from this, a company GENPACT held a direct interview for the post of process associate in the company. They were able to get registration of 135 students, disclosed chief of bureau Indira Mehrotra.
UPTEC held a one-hour quiz on general awareness. Besides, poster and essay competitions were organised by the bureau. The topic for the competition was ‘Career of My Dreams’. After the quiz, an interactive session was also held in which experts from various fields, including director UPTEC Prof KK Bhutani, discussed the IT sector and an expert from IMS, Allahabad, spoke on management.
Later, the best three entries for the competitions and quiz were awarded by Prof Bhutani in the prize distribution function which was held at 3 pm.
The results for the quiz, poster and essay competition are as follows: Poster competition- Prachi Kesari ( Jagat Taran Girls Degree College)-first, Kuhu Malviya (Arya Kanya Degree College)-second, Bilkis Jahan (Rajarshi Tandon Degree College)-third. Essay Competition: Vijaya Walia (Jagat Taran Degree College)-first, Anamika Singh (Allahabad University)-second, Sukirti Verma (Rajarshi Tandon Degree College)-third.General awareness: Shyamji-(B.Sc,Maths)-first, Mallika Kumar-(B.Sc)-second, Gopi Chandra Gupta -(B.A.III)-third.
