Cassini will come within 1,200 kms of Titan, about 250 times closer than the probe's pass in July, NASA said on Tuesday.
Titan is covered with thick fumes. Cassini has discovered two new Saturn moons in August, as well as a new ring around the planet.
The Cassini-Huygens mission is a joint project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian space agency. The mission is directed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
