Aware that traffic jams were a regular problem in the area, the DGP on Sunday night suddenly decided to drive down the route and got stuck in a jam. What made the DGP furious was that there was no cop around to manage the traffic. The DGP immediately hauled up senior cops of the district and immediately CO and the inspector were taken to task.

Sunday’s action was a sequel to a similar visit by the DGP recently after which he had ordered that cops should be visible in the city. In the review meeting that Singh convened immediately after, he had also ordered that a solution be found to the chaotic traffic scene in Charbagh area. Sources said that DGP was receiving regular complaints about traffic problems in the area.

The DGP’s proactive approach showed results immediately. The jam was cleared immediately after he gave the dressing down on Sunday and police presence increased at almost all major crossings of the city.
