HOW MANY visits have you had to consumer courts so far? Painful, aren’t they?
Yeah! Don’t ask, you would say and recount your pangs and pains in all pensive details.

But, hold on! The State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (SCDRC) is all set to cut your visits to a mouse click.
Well, that means a great relief. Just click the mouse and know the case details.
Yes, the Commission will soon go online by introducing a system of network that would tell the status of a case and date (cause list) when to appear before the court.
“The process will take some four to five months to complete,” says Commission president Justice Palok Basu.
The network would be made available in such a way that 12-crore consumers of Uttar Pradesh could gain access to it. The system would also furnish details about the pending cases in district consumer forums. Computers for the purpose have already been purchased and installation work is on.
On pendency, Justice Basu said the only way to solve the problem was by giving five additional benches, so as to facilitate fast disposal of cases.
Currently, there is only one additional bench and that one of the Commission’s president. Unless our demand for additional bench is fulfilled, the pendency may go up to 52,000 cases. At present about 32,000 cases are pending with the Commission.
