Youth thrashed inside bank

A YOUTH was mercilessly thrashed inside Punjab National Bank’s Colonelganj branch by some youths on Monday afternoon.

According to reports, a scuffle between two youths over standing in the queue inside the bank took an ugly turn when some friends of one of the youths arrived on getting a call from his mobile. They started thrashing the other youth mercilessly with other customers, including women, watching the incident in shock.

Meanwhile, someone informed the control room which in turn alerted Colonelganj police station. However, cops took more than 45 minutes to arrive, even though the police station is hardly 300 metres away.

A bank customer who was quite upset over the casual approach of the police despite being alerted by the control room, said the group of youngmen which stormed the bank, severely assaulted a youth and escaped conveniently.

A constable who was also present on the spot, refused to contact the police station on his mobile. Instead, he said he would send the cops from the police station, alleged the customer. However, PNB manager Ramashankar Singh preferred not to give any importance to the incident.
