Hi-tech communication has become a source of trouble for female students who are receiving obscene messages from their male counterparts. Once they get the mobile number of a girl student or any woman, they start sending objectionable messages through SMS, causing trouble to the woman concerned.

Shahana Parveen, president of student union at SN SEN Degree College said the girls these days needed to be more cautious while walking on the roads. She said boys on two wheelers not only pass objectionable remarks but they also took the photographs of the girls with the mobile phones fitted with camera.

However, Shailendra, an MBA Student, said, “My experience is different. I feel many girls feel happy when someone passes comment on their dress and look.”

Riyanka , student of BA-I, said even the elderly persons passed comments on women. She said a few days ago a boy, younger to her, kept on sending objectionable messages through SMS for several days . Finally, I had to inform my parents. It appears that men have, apart from devising new methods of teasing women, have no other business,” she added Sunila, an employee of an Insurance company, said, “I got a mail from an unknown boy. On opening the mail, I was shocked to find some objectionable sentences. Though I did not reply to him, he continued to send objectionable messages and photographs.

Finally, I had to change the e-mail ID to stop filthy messages.”

Preeti, a school teacher, said one of her students started teasing her on her land-line phone. When she asked him to call her up on the mobile, he refused to reveal his identity.
