The out of order electronic voting machines were the prime concern of the officials in the meeting and the chief election officer directed the returning officer and District Magistrate Dr Hariom to arrange the EVMs. In the meeting, Dr Hariom informed that the EVMs would be brought here from Gonda. According to sources, 350 EVMs were brought here by the election office, out of which 200 EVMs are out of order. According to reports, these out of order EVMs are of 1989 model, which is too old and create trouble in accepting the ballots. The remaining 150 EVMs are of 2001 model and the administration is trying to arrange the latest EVMs.

According to reports, around 3.26 lakh voters will use their franchise in this by-election at about 337 polling centres. DIG BB Bakshi and SSP Dipesh Juneja also briefed the chief election officer regarding the arrangement of police force and their deployment to maintain law and order. The border of the constituency will be sealed on the day of polling.

The election officer has directed the officials to check the posters and banners of candidates and said that no vehicular movement would be allowed without prior permission. Police officials have also been directed to ensure the surrendering of licensees’ arms..
