The government has also transferred the Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) R K Gupta to Chhatarpur. Forest department sources said here that the shifting of the post is most surprising because it was created here more than two years back after the authorities concerned felt there was a need for it.

The sources told Hindustan Times that there are 11 wildlife sanctuaries and one national park in Malwa region so how can a CF (Wildlife) posted at Bhopal look after these.

Sources further said that accumulation of more CFs in Bhopal would be counter productive to forest conservation and forest officers would not get job satisfaction.

Gupta was posted in Indore after the post was created. So all of a sudden why is there no need for the post at Indore is surprising.

The sources said that government must look into this matter as the post of CF (Wildlife) is required in the City and some people with vested interests are working against this.

Moreover, posting of large number of CFs at the headquarters would result in dilution of power and bureaucrats are often seen complaining about this problem.
