The charge sheet was filed against Subrata Paul, then junior engineer, and Munindra Kumar Bhattacharjee, assistant executive engineer of the PWD (Roads) Hailakandi B Subdivision office, according to a Director General of Police (VAC) release on Thursday.

Names of false muster rolls workers for annual repairing of the Silchar-Hailakandi Road were allegedly prepared on three occasions during 1990-91 and misappropriate Rs 1,052, Rs 4,095 and Rs 2,893, the release said.

The charge sheet accused the two engineers of misutilising their position as public servant amounting to criminal misconduct under Section 13(2) Prevention of Crime Act 1988 read with Section 468 Indian Penal Code. It was submitted to the Court of the Special Judge here, the release added.
