LARGE NUMBER of patients admitted at Sir Sunderlal Hospital of Banaras Hindu University had to face enormous difficulties as the pharmaceuticals traders of Lanka area observed complete bandh today in protest against the opening of a medicine shop on the hospital promises on Sunday. The pharmaceutical traders under the banner of Lanka Dava Vyavasayi Sangh shut down their shops against opening of the medicine shop. Attendants of patients were seen running from pillar to post to get the required medicines as around 150 pharmaceutical shops remained closed today.

It was observed that opening of the medicine shop would leave thousands of youths unemployed. Sangh office bearers also observed that opening of a medicine shop on the hospital campus was against government norms.
President of the Sangh, Rajendra Agarwal, and other office bearers including Vinshnu Gupta, Subhash Sonekar, Dinesh Tiwari, Manpreet Singh and Shobhu Sonekar threatened the BHU administration to launch a massive agitation in case the shop was opened.
Man killed: An unidentified 30-year-old man was crushed to death by a heavy vehicle on the national highway in Dafi area under Lanka police station on Saturday. The driver of the heavy vehicle fled the scene. Police seized the body for post mortem examination.
