Chhari Pujan performed with religious gaiety, fervour

As per past practice, the traditional Chhari-Pujan was performed at Dashnami Akhara on Friday with religious fervour and gaiety under the supervision of Mahant Dependra Giriji.

As per past practice, the traditional Chhari-Pujan was performed at Dashnami Akhara on Friday with religious fervour and gaiety under the supervision of Mahant Dependra Giriji.

The Chhari-Pujan is an age-old tradition, which is performed every year at Dashnami Akhara temple on the day of Nag Panchhami. Large numbers of sadhus, devotees, besides Amarnath pilgrims participated in the prayers.

The Chhari-Mubarak will commence from August 6 to the Amarnath shrine from Dashnami Akhara in Srinagar, under the supervision of Giriji, along with hundreds of sadhus, who would halt for the night at Pahalgam.

The Chhari-Mubarak will make night halts at Chandanwari on August 7, Sheshnag on August 8 and on Panchtarani on August 9.

On August 10, (Raksha-Bandhan), the Chhari-Mubarak will proceed from Panchtarani for the holy cave for Pujan, where traditional rituals will be performed and prayers offered till dusk.
