THREE CASES have been registered in the wake of communal tension in Chhatripura area last night, and four persons have been arrested in connection with one of the cases.

Though things are back to normal now, there was heavy stone-pelting from both sides and police had to resort to firing tear gas shells to control the situation late last night.
There was heavy police presence in the area throughout the day. One of the cases has been registered on the basis of complaint by Dharma Raksha Samiti member Mahesh Dangi against Yakub Kala, Jamma, Mehendi Hasan, Haroon, Ahmed Zakir, Imran, Liaqat, Kausar, Sadik, Moinuddin, Akbar and Shahrukh under Sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 147 (punishment for rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), and 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of IPC at the Chhatripura police station. Four persons - Yakub, Kausar, Shahrukh and another person - have been arrested.
Another case has been registered against Dharma Raksha Samiti leaders Jitu Khushwaha and Mahesh Dangi under Section 353 of IPC (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), on the basis of complaint by constable Manoj Pandey of Sarafa police station at the Pandrinath police station. No one has been arrested in this connection.
The third case has been registered on complaint by Mohammad Javed, resident of Khajrana, whose auto rickshaw was torched by miscreants during the course of the communal flare-up there last night, against three to four unidentified persons under Sections 341, 294, and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC at the Chhatripura police station.
Meanwhile, two other persons Mujja Kala and Mannan have been arrested in connection with the attack on Bunti Solanki that took place day before yesterday near Nayapeetha Urdu School.
Banti had alleged in his complaint that he was returning from work at about 9.30 pm when he was stopped by three people - Mujja Kala, Mannan and one of their accomplices. They allegedly threw red chilli powder in his eyes, pushed him off his bicycle and hit him with iron chains.
The accused left after allegedly issuing threats against attending the next day’s ‘Aarti’. Cases under Sections 147, 341, 294 and 506 of the IPC were registered against the accused.
How trouble began
THE TROUBLE last night started while Sarafa police were on a routine checking drive in the Sarafa area. During the checking they caught three persons riding a motorcycle. The three appeared to be drunk and became aggressive and abusive and told the cops that they did not have any papers.
Sarafa TI Prabha Chauhan was also on duty, and she directed that the persons be taken for medical examination. While they were being taken by constable Manoj Pandey and another constable one of them managed to break free and run away. While running away he shouted pro-Hindu slogans.
The policemen gave chase and managed to catch him a short distance away. Meanwhile, the three who had been caught had managed to contact members of the Dharma Raksha Samiti. Many of them, including Jitu Khushwaha and others, came out and forced constable Manoj Pandey to release the drunken motorcyclist (hence the case under Section 353 of IPC).
While they were returning, they again shouted pro-Hindu slogans and this led to confrontation between Muslims and Hindus and there was heavy stone-pelting from both sides. Even as the stone-pelting was going on and police were resorting to lathicharge to control the situation, some miscreants torched the auto rickshaw belonging to Javed.
