The move comes as a natural corollary of his earlier action of opening the doors of the Library to bona fide researchers and journalists. Entry was earlier restricted to MPs. Encouraged by the response to his move, Chatterjee felt that the facilities of the library can be thrown up to other sections as well.

The Speaker disclosed his intention to earmark a separate corner for children while inaugurating an exhibition of books and photographs on "Issues Relating to Children’’ in the Parliament Library Building on Tuesday. He has directed his Secretariat to explore the possibility of setting aside some space for them.

Earlier on the occasion of Jawaharlal Nehru’s 117th birth anniversary, he and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid floral tributes.at the portrait of the country’s first prime minister in Central Hall.
