Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) Lucknow headquarters has given clearance for running of 30 buses in first phase in the city. All details regarding routes, bus numbers, stoppages, fares and facilities to senior citizens and students have been finalised by UPSRTC.
On being contacted, UPSRTC Regional Manager J M Sinha told HT Allahabad Live here on Wednesday that everything was final except the date of inaugurating the city bus facility. "We are trying to get an appointment from the Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal for the formal inauguration of the service. This will be finalised in two days. However, in case of delay formal inauguration may be organised later but buses will start running from December 8.
"In the first phase 30 buses including five big ones have been included in the fleet for five routes. This will include route no 11 from Kutchery to Mewalal Bagia, route no 22 Kutchery to ADA Colony gate Jhalwa, route no 33 from Railway station to Trivenipuram Jhusi , route no 44 from Railway station to Teliyarganj and route no 55 from Parade Ground to Dhoomanganj".
These buses will continue plying from 5 am to 8.40 pm daily. On each routes there are around 12 to 15 stoppages. Fare will range from Rs 3 to Rs 15 depending on the distance. Senior Citizens and students have been given concession facility in monthly season ticket, said Sinha.
Regarding reservation of seats for ladies and senior citizens, Regional Manager said it may be considered but no final decision was taken so far. Senior officials were coming to city on Wednesday to hold meeting to discuss the beginning of bus service, said RM.
