City shivers as mercury dips

SNOWFALL IN the north has sent shivers down the spines of City?s denizens. As news of Gulmarg and other places being covered under a blanket of snow reached the City, local residents are prepared for an onslaught of cold waves flowing down the mountainous terrain of the Himalayas, right up to the Malwa plateau.

SNOWFALL IN the north has sent shivers down the spines of City’s denizens. As news of Gulmarg and other places being covered under a blanket of snow reached the City, local residents are prepared for an onslaught of cold waves flowing down the mountainous terrain of the Himalayas, right up to the Malwa plateau.

A dip in the temperature, though slight, has been recorded from yesterday. According to meteorological sources, the maximum daytime temperature recorded on Tuesday was 25.0 degree Celsius (which was one degree below normal) although the minimum nighttime temperature was recorded at 11.2 degree Celsius (one degree above normal).

A reverse was experienced today with maximum daytime temperature being recorded at 25.5 degree Celsius and minimum nighttime temperature being recorded at 8.7 degree Celsius (which was one degree below normal).

Though the dip in temperature was unsubstantial, the effects of the chilly northern winds could be felt throughout the day and night. The morning and evening witnessed people covered in warm clothing.

Meanwhile, fog and other natural winter occurrences in other parts of the country are affecting the transportation system.

Flights coming from Delhi continued to be delayed and a lesser impact was noticed on the timetable of trains, with those coming from the north running a little behind schedule.
