Civic poll: SP candidate wins unopposed

A SAMAJWADI Party (SP) candidate Mohammed Azam won election unopposed from ward number 33 (Chakia) here on Thursday. Mohammed Azam romped home uncontested following withdrawal of nomination of a candidate Sabina from the same ward.

Mohammed Azam romped home uncontested following withdrawal of nomination of a candidate Sabina from the same ward.

On the other hand, Mukesh Kumar Jaiswal withdrew his candidature from the mayoral poll contest.

Meanwhile, the district administration announced a plan to conduct civic election.

According to a press release, the administration will appoint zonal and sector magistrates by October 21 and returning and presiding officers by October 22.

The electoral list would be ready by October 24, the release said.

The administration would impart training to zonal and sector magistrates on October 26 and hand over the ballots papers to returning officers on
October 27.

The Tehsildars of respective areas would take care of the polling booths, drinking water and lighting arrangement on October 29, the release added.

The release further said the poll officials would leave for their respective areas on October 30. Polling for Nagar Nigam would take place on October 31 from 8 am to 5 pm. The administration would appoint the officials to do the counting work on November 2 and impart training to them on November 4.

The release said the returning officer would issue passes to the agents of candidates on November 6 from 8 am.
