A large number of office-goers, students, especially tiny-tots and public in general faced great inconvenience in reaching their destinations.
As hundreds of Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses and other vehicles were engaged to carry beneficiaries of Kanya Vidya Dhan and unemployment allowance schemes, many people faced difficulty in travelling due to shortage of vehicles.
Besides, traffic restrictions imposed to ensure success of the much-touted function also hampered the movement of the school buses and other private vehicles.
At many crossings people were seen stranded and a large number of people and students had to return to their homes when they got delayed beyond the tolerable limits. Thousands of people and students from Jhusi could not come to the city side due to traffic restrictions. Moreover, parking of vehicles around the venue and in different other localities also caused traffic snarls.
However, the vehicles with beckon lights and those with flags of the ruling Samajwadi Party were seen plying with impunity.
Moreover, media persons with notebooks in their hands and some carrying cameras were also allowed to go to the venue.
Rather, the police and traffic personnel were seen helping and guiding them about the venue and parking slots.
The beneficiaries of the two schemes were served with food and refreshment but at some places, they threw empty food packets and the left-over was seen littered on some roads.
