CMO pulls up medical officers

ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR (Health) and officiating chief medical officer, Dr GC Srivastava, on Monday pulled up medical officers for poor performance in the family planning programme in the district.

Addressing the national health programme monthly review meeting, Dr Srivastava directed the medical officers to complete sterilisation and routine immunisation target by the end of March. He said more health check up camps should be organised at primary schools. The birth and death records also needed to be updated, he said. Expressing concern over the poor attendance of doctors at community and primary health centres, Dr Srivastava said strict action would be taken against doctors who failed to attend CHCs and PHCs a regularly. He said CHCs should also have adequate stock of medicines.

“Every CHC and PHC should have anti-rabies and anti-snake venom vaccine. In case the stock has finished it is the responsibility of the medical officer to inform the department for fresh stock of vaccines,” he added.

The meeting was also attended by all dy chief medical officers including Dr Swatantra Singh, medical officers, medical officer in-charge, Anganwadi supervisors and UNICEF regional coordinator.
