DISTRICT MAGISTRATE Amrit Abhijat directed the chief medical officer and the medical superintendents of district hospitals to run dengue pathology lab round the clock and provide free treatment to the patients. He also pulled up the sanitary supervisor of Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital for poor condition of the general wards, here on Friday.
He said the dengue test would be conducted free at the Department of Microbiology. The DM also asked AMA president Dr AK Bansal to conduct dengue tests at nominal fees of Rs 250 to 300 at the private nursing homes and hospitals. The DM directed the regional sports officer to take out dengue awareness rally from the stadium on October 9.
The DM was addressing the review meeting of preventive measures taken by the Nagar Nigam, health and malaria department in controlling the possible dengue outbreak in the district, here on Friday.
Amrit Abhijat said that the Nagar Swasthya Adhikari and district malaria officer should prepare a comprehensive fogging plan. Fogging should be conducted between 5 pm to 12 am and should be repeated after every 72 hours. The public awareness campaign should also be launched in Malin Basti through street plays, pamphlets and loudspeaker announcements to make people aware of the anti-mosquito preventive measures. “The nurseries should be made mosquito free.
The cinema hall should also display message about the preventive measures,” he said.
Meanwhile, on his visit to the SRN Hospital, the DM warned the supervisor for improving the sanitary condition of the hospital and residential colonies within 24 hours. He said the payment to the sanitary contractor would be stopped and FIR would also be lodged against them.
On a surprise visit, the DM arrived at the SRN Hospital at about 2 pm and inspected EMO room, medicine emergency, surgery emergency and the dengue ward. He also enquired about the condition of the dengue patients admitted to the hospital. He expressed anger over the poor sanitary condition of the wards and warned the sanitary supervisor for improving the condition.
Amrit Abhijat said if the condition does not improve, he would even black list the contractor. He said if there were any outbreak of the disease in the hospital campus due to insanitation, the contractor as well as hospital authorities would be responsible for it. Superintendent-in-charge of the SRN Hospital Dr ST Imam was also present on the occasion.
Dr Imam also assured the DM of immediate action to improve the condition of wards.
