STUDENTS LED by office-bearers of the CMP Degree College Students Union forced closure of admission counters, staged a road-block and indulged in stone-pelting on Friday.

The students, in support of their demand of better students amenities in the college, also damaged Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses during their agitation. Only after cops resorted to lathi-charge did the agitating students disperse.
Trouble started this morning when a group of students led by student union office-bearers converged at the college and forced closure of the admission counters where admissions of the under- graduate classes were going on.
The students then proceeded towards the college principal Dr Kiran Shankar's office and tried to lock it.
It was then that some of the student leaders protested the move and distanced themselves from locking the principal's office. Seeing the rift between the agitating students, the cops as well as the members of the college proctorial team led by the chief proctor Dr Shashank Chand Dwivedi came forward and tried to send the students away. When some student leaders tried to misbehave with the teachers, the cops moved in and chased them away using mild force.
Upset over the police action, students led by the CMPDC student's union vice-president Preeti Tripathi and general secretary Anurag Shukla then blocked the road in front of the college and raised anti-college administration slogans.
During their demonstration, the students suddenly started pelting stones at passing vehicles and finally targeted a UPSRTC bus to vent their anger.
The stone-pelting resulted in the bus sustaining heavy damage.
Watching the trouble makers creating a ruckus, the on-duty cops then resorted to lathi-charge and chased the agitators away.
