Coffee shop shut after Rahul visit

The way-side coffee shop at Olavanna in Kozhikode where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi broke journey for a coffee during his October 7 visit has been shut down for a week by officials for “lack of hygiene”, triggering controversy in the Left-ruled state.

Some villagers alleged that shop owner Abdul Aziz was being victimised at the behest of the local leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) that controls the panchayat as he was a Congress supporter.
