It was a cold and hazy Christmas morning for the people of Delhi as dense fog descended upon the capital, though the minimum temperature moved up since the last few days.

Dense fog enveloped the city in the early hours today and the visibility at the IGI airport dropped to 300 meters at 6.30 am.

The minimum temperature, which had dropped down below 7.0 degrees Celsius over the past three days, however, climbed up to 8.2 degrees Celsius which is a notch above the normal level.

On Wednesday, the minimum had dropped to the season's coldest of 5.2 degrees, and the subsequent days saw the lowest mercury marker point to 6.7 and 6.4 degrees respectively.

The maximum temperature over the past 24 hours was recorded at 24.0 degrees Celsius which again is a degree above normal.

According to weather officials, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 8.0 degrees Celsius while the maximum is likely to be around 22.0 degrees over the next 24 hours.

According to statistics provided by the weather office, the average minimum temperature in Delhi for the month of December is 8.2 deg C and the maximum is 23 deg C.
