Cold wave continues, schools closed till today

COLD WINDS continue to sweep eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonebhadra, Jaunpur and Azamgarh. However, citizens got some respite from the cold on Thursday. The district administration declared that schools would be closed due to the cold wave till Friday. The order is applicable to students up to Class VIII for all private and government schools in Varanasi district .

However, citizens got some respite from the cold on Thursday.

The district administration declared that schools would be closed due to the cold wave till Friday. The order is applicable to students up to Class VIII for all private and government schools in Varanasi district .

Five more deaths were reported in eastern UP in the past few days due to the cold.

According to information, Chattu Ram (45), resident of Rorwan village, under Kon police station, in Sonebhadra district, died on Wednesday morning.

In Jaunpur district, Patiram Musher (40), resident of Bantaria village in Chandwak area, died on Wednesday. The villagers collected money for his cremation.

Similarly, Chandradev Yadav (70), resident of Bastiyar Chak village, under Chirayakot police station, in Mau district, died while milking his buffalo on Wednesday morning.

Musaphir (60), resident of Kutubpur in Mau district and a girl died in Mirzapur district also succumbed to the cold on Wednesday morning.

In Varanasi, more than five-dozen patients were admitted to private and government hospitals, including Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and different primary and community health centres.

The district has been witnessing a persistent fall in temperature for the last few days.

Tuesday was the coldest day of the season in Varanasi with the recorded minimum temperature of 2.6 degree Celsius.
