A 21-yr-old college student of Barwan, Murshidabad, went missing ever since a lewd MMS of her was circulated amongst youth of the area a week ago.

On July 10, Reshma (name changed) had left home to enroll herself in the Masters programme at Behrampore Girls' College, but when she did not return home her family lodged a complaint with the Barwan police on July 11.

Matters took an intriguing turn on Monday, when the girl’s family members moved a fresh complaint, accusing two local youths of making the video and circulating it. They also accused them of abducting Reshma.

The girl’s maternal uncle said that he came to know of the MMS on July 9. “A friend informed me about the MMS. It showed my niece in a compromising position with a local youth working for a private mobile tower company,” said Md. Nasiruddin.

But when he quizzed his niece, she apparently confessed that she had been forced to perform the act. “She said they had threatened to kill her if she didn’t comply.”

A senior officer of the Barwan police station confirmed that he had seen the less-than-a-minute MMS clip and said the missing girl’s face was clearly visible in the footage.

“We have gathered that the girl is safe, but is unwilling to return home as she is embarrassed,” said Murshidabad SP Humayun Kabir.
