The stoning took place after the Muslims came out of a local mosque after saying their Jumma prayers.

Led by the Muslim United Liberation Front (TULF) and other civil organizations, the demonstrators shouted slogans against the LTTE and its leader Prabhakaran, for allegedly massacring Muslims in Mutur in East Sri Lanka.

Two popular Tamil restaurants were damaged before the police drove the mob away.
