“Mulayam Singh has amassed thousands of crores by using unfair means and is busy eliminating political rivals in gang wars,” Pandey said after addressing a protest dharna here on Wednesday. He said a thorough CBI enquiry has become imperative in this connection.
“What else does one need to prove his involvement in acquiring as much as land as possible in favour of his family members and himself in his over two years tenure,” he said demanding his immediate arrest.
It may be mentioned that as part of its ongoing campaign against criminal elements in political parties, the Congress activists staged a dharna outside the Chowk police station here in Varanasi on Wednesday.
Former member of parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior Congress leader, Dr Ratnakar Pandey said that political parties should make an ‘honest’ effort to eradicate criminals from politics.
He said that honest politicians have lost their credibility due to these criminal elements which should be checked immediately. Pandey also lashed out at Rajnath Singh, the newly-elected BJP chief, saying that he politicised the Krishnanand Rai murder case for his own interest. District Congress Committee president, Satish Chaubey demanded the political parties to identify criminals in their party-folds and weed them out to safeguard the interest of the democratic system of our country.
Prominent among others who addressed the dharna included member of All India Congress Committee, Anil Srivastava, Mahanagar Congress Committee president, Vijay Shanker Mehta and Ram Lal Tripathi.
