Speaking on the occasion, former MLA Lal Chand Nishad and member of the All-India Congress Committee Kamal Kishor Pandey expressed concern over the effluents being discharged from various factories at GIDA. This polluted the water of the Aami river, they said.
They demanded that the factories should be told not to discharge effluents into the river.
The Congress leaders said if the administration would not take proper steps, the Congress activists would lock the industry.
Party’s city unit president Chaudhary Irshad Husain and senior party leader Jeevan Prakash, Ashok Pandey and Aslam Parvez said the Mulayam Singh-led government miserably failed to provide assistance to the farmers.
