The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee seems to have given them the responsibility to test the political waters in eastern UP.
State Congress leader Rajesh Pati Tripathi flagged off the two yatras from the district headquarters today.
Former DSP of UP police Shailendra Singh said the Rozgar Sandesh Yatra would cover 150 kilometres in six days. This yatra would cover major parts of Chandauli, Mughalsarai, Chahania, Dhanapur, Sakaldeeha, Saiyadraja, Shahabganj, Chakia and Baburi, he said.
He further said he would apprise the rural masses and youths of the eastern belts about the benefits of the Centre’s Rural Employment Scheme.
Sahilendra said the Centre had selected as many as 200 districts for the purpose, out of which, 22 districts were in UP alone.
He said the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee had organised this yatra to keep the people aware of their rights under this scheme. He added that the rural masses would also be informed about the Right to Information of 2005.
Under the directives of the UPCC, younger brother of Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and Congress leader Arvind Singh took out the Dandi Yatra from Varanasi today. This yatra will culminate in Azamgarh on February 6.
Congress leader Brijendra Singh is also accompanying Arvind Singh in this yatra.
Arvind said the yatra aimed at apprising the people about the policies of the Congress and spread the message of peace and harmony in eastern UP.
He further said the main reason for taking out the yatra was to convince the masses about the ideology of the Congress.
A large number of Congress workers gathered at the district headquarters to flag off the two padyatras.
