Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Finance Minister Thomas Isaac had violated the Constitution and oath of office by openly challenging the Governor’s decision, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala told a press meet after party leadership meet in Thiruvananthapuram.

He said it was unfortunate that CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat also took a position “encouraging his party rank and file to come out in protest against Governor”.

“The response of the CPI-M amounted to the state letting loose anarchy,” he said.

The ministers were appointed and sworn in by the Governor. If they wanted to question the propriety of the Governor’s decision, they should have stepped down first, the Congress leader said.
