A BJP rebel Rai had joined Congress two years ago. Rai today sent a letter to UPCC president Salman Khurshid saying it would not be prudent for him to be in Congress following his decision to join Bharti’s Ram Roti Yatra.

Later talking to Hindustan Times, Rai said he had not been given any position in the Congress in the past two years.

As Bharti was raising her voice against the dictatorial attitude of the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership he thought it proper to join her, Rai said.

Referring to his brief association with the Congress, Rai said he met the AICC general secretary (in-charge UP) on a number of occasions and yet he was not given any responsibility in the party.
