Taking part in the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, Sudarsanam said Congress MLAs were assaulted during the AIADMK regime. Even after the government had changed, they were attacked by AIADMK members inside the House, he said and requested the speaker to ensure their security.

"The AIADMK members were alleging that the DMK government has not fulfilled its poll promises. How can a party fulfil its promises within 10 days?" Sudarsanam asked.

Alleging that the AIADMK's actions showed its vengeful attitude towards the DMK, Sudarsanam said the people would teach the AIADMK a lesson.

He welcomed the decision to pass a resolution in the assembly supporting the 27 per cent reservations for OBCs in elite educational institutions.

Sudarsanam said the revival of the Uzhavar Santhai (farmer's market) scheme would help farmers sell their produce at a good price. The continuation of free electricity to farmers would improve their lives, he said and urged the government to set up new industries to generate employment.
