He said this in his address at rallies in Mandi and Surankot in Poonch district. Soz and Congress leaders Abdul Majid Wani and Shabir Khan are on a three-day tour of Rajouri and Poonch districts.

The Congress has been consistently stating that the party has gained grounds in all three regions of the state, and its tally is likely to go up in the next assembly elections. It is for this reason that the state leadership of the party is against pre-poll alliance with any regional party, though chief minister Omar Abdullah had said his future rests with the Congress-led UPA.

"It is a settled question that the Congress is the number one party in the state, in view of its strength in secular policy in all the regions of the state, and will emerge as the single-largest party in the next assembly elections," said Soz.

He claimed that Congress alone could ensure equitable development in all three regions and justice to people of all faiths and religion on the path of secularism.
