In the recently concluded 82nd plenary session of the party at Hyderabad, Congress leaders had decided to focus in the northern States of the country, particularly in UP and Bihar to revive the party. City unit secretary of party Ajay Kumar Singh said that the yatra was aimed at exposing the misdeeds of Mulayam Singh Yadav led State government. He said during yatra the party would highlight the achievements of Manmohan Singh government.
In response to a question he said the Rights for Information and Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would restore people’s confidence in the Congress. The party would also work to bring back Dalit and minorities to the party fold, he added.
Meanwhile, preparations for the yatra are in full swing in the district. Member of the All India Congress Committee Syed Jamal said eight teams had been constituted to cover the district falling in eight commissionaries. Team number eight will cover 10 districts of Gorakhpur, Basti and Devi Patan Commissionaries.Congress had organised a youth leadership camp.
