Congress failed to supply pure water in AP: Naidu

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said Congress government in Andhra Pradesh has failed to supply pure drinking water which resulted in recent deaths of eight persons and spread of other water-borne diseases in Hyderabad.

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said Congress government in Andhra Pradesh has failed to supply pure drinking water which resulted in recent deaths of eight persons and spread of other water-borne diseases in Hyderabad.

"People are in great sorrow. Because they could not get pure drinking water. At least now, the government should open its eyes and provide clean drinking water to the people," he told reporters.

Naidu visited those who fell sick after consuming contaminated water and now undergoing treatment at state-run Gandhi Hospital and Fever Hospital in the city.

"12 cholera cases have been reported. This is a serious matter. Though there are ministers looking after health issues, they could not prevent these deaths and suffering," he said.

Meanwhile, Medical Education Minister G Aruna Kumari visited the Gandhi Hospital and Fever Hospital and interacted with the patients and officials.

While eight persons of Bholakpur locality after consumption of contaminated drinking water, 12 mild cases of cholera have been reported in the city.

However, officials said there is no need to panic as the mild cases of cholera, which are easily curable, are reported every month in the city.
