Dr TP Shahi, district president of Gorakhpur, was replaced by Sanjeev Kumar Singh while Alok Prasad would be the new district unit president in Maharajganj. Similarly, Rajendra Prasad Pandey would be the new president of Kushinagar district while Kailash Tiwari was nominated as city president in Deoria. The party also changed the district unit president in Siddharthnagar, giving charge to Ishwar Chandra Shukla. In Sant Kabir Nagar district, Fazle Masood was nominated the new party president.

However, in Gorakhpur, the party gave one more chance to city unit president Chaudhary Irshad Husain.

It is to be noted that a large group of party workers had demanded the change in this division.

Meanwhile, party activists organised a meeting at the city unit office to felicitate Chaudhary Irshad Husain. Speaking on the occasion Chaudhary expressed his gratitude to the party workers.

Congress activists have warmly welcomed the change in the party organisation and expressed hope that the new incumbents would energise the party in the division. A meeting of party workers was held here at the resident of AICC member Dr Syed Jamal.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Jamal said the change in the party organistation was made with the consent of party leader and MP Rahul Gandhi.

He congratulated Sanjeev Singh for being nominated as the district unit president of Gorakhpur. Sanjeev is ill and under treatment at a hospital in Barabanki.
