The Bihar Congress has set for itself a target of 1.5-2 lakh gathering at the rally.
District presidents, sitting legislators and members of legislative council have each been asked to get around 5,000 people from their respective areas. As per official estimates, Gandhi Maidan has a capacity of around 3 lakh people. Similarly, a target of 3,000 people has been set for each potential candidate. Congress got a share of 40 seats while the Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal will fight from 100 constituencies each.
The state unit has made preparations to lodge around 50,000 people in Patna a day before the rally. Congress has got in an active mode for the rally in view of the competitive politics in ‘Mahaghatbandhan (grand alliance)’ as all the three parties are trying to outdo each other in terms of crowd gathering.
This is also the first time that Congress leaders will address any rally in Gandhi Maidan in the past 26 years after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s public meeting in June 1989.
