Congress leader injured in attack in Silchar

A senior Congress leader in Assam's Cachar district was seriously injured when unidentified miscreants attacked him in Silchar on Tuesday, police sources said.

A senior Congress leader in Assam's Cachar district was seriously injured when unidentified miscreants attacked him in Silchar on Tuesday, police sources said.

Silchar District Congress Committee general secretary and Silchar Development Authority chairman Partharanjan Chakraborty was attacked by a large number of miscreants with matchets and sticks at his residence in Tarapur, sources said.

Seriously wounded, Chakraborty was admitted to the Silchar Medical College Hospital, the sources said. A search operations has been launched to to nab the culprits, the sources added.
