Pradesh Congress Chief Nabam Tuki said construction of the dam by the Chinese at Zangmu would be opposed despite Beijing's assurance to External Affairs Minister S M Krishna that it will have no impact on the downstream flow of the river into India.
The Centre has also constituted a technical committee with members of the Central Water Commission to study the possible impact of reported move by the Chinese to divert water from the river, Tuki told a press conference here and maintained that people of Arunachal Pradesh had nothing in common with the Chinese who lay claim to the state.
On the demand for resignation of Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh for advocating Chinese investments in mega hydro power projects in the state, Tuki said the Congress high command and the Prime Minister were dealing with Ramesh. "We will accept whatever decision they take."
