A coordination meeting was held on Wednesday to chalk out preparations for the Pravasi Divas to be organised Mumbai from January 7.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, was attended, among others, by Union Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Jagdish Tytler, Congress leader Murli Deora, representatives of FICCI, Police Commissioner AN Roy and MP Govinda, official sources said.

Speaking at the meeting, Tytler stressed on ensuring smooth immigration facilities for the NRIs and augmenting facilities at the airports.

Deshmukh also called for adequate publicity for the festival and the need to ensure that the festival was well promoted, sources said.

Tytler also visited the Admiral Kohli stadium in Navy Nagar, one of the venues for the event, sources added.
