The deceased cop, along with some other members of Special Weapons and Tactics, a special police force created in Agra to tackle such operations, came under heavy gun fire from arms smugglers when they were returning to Agra after arresting two suspected arms traders, Khaldi and Akhtar, from the village.

Agra special superintendent of police Subhash Chandra Dubey said though Satish was wearing a bulletproof jacket, he was hit in the neck. Babudeen, a villager, was caught in the cross fire, he said. His death created a tense situation in the village.

Dubey said seven country-made 32 bore revolvers and a rifle were recovered from the arrested arms traders in the village that is believed to be a hub of illegal arms and stolen vehicles trade.
