SSP Ashutosh Pandey said the police were hunting for one-and-half dozen other identified members of the group based in Lucknow, Delhi and other cities of the country. The four have been sent to jail under Section 377 IPC (sodomy).

Former SP (East) Rajesh Pandey had first busted the gay racket, allegedly running in Hazratganj, in 2001. Pandey had seized objectionable photographs and other articles from the house from where the illegal trade was allegedly being orchestrated.

While briefing about the case before the mediapersons on Wednesday, SSP Pandey said as soon as he was informed about the racket, he asked CO Mahanagar Habibul Hasan to get on the job and arrest the guilty.

While probing the matter Hasan traced Nihal Ahmed of A-24, Vijay Kunj Colony, Kalyanpur in Gudamba who was running the racket.

An informer had sent an e-mail to the SSP sent by Nihal to all the gay members inviting all on December 17 for a get-together and introduction of members to each other at 6.30 p.m. The venue for the party was Smriti Vihar, Ring Road, Sector-25, Indira Nagar.

The members were asked to carry white handkerchief in hand as a mark of identity. The members were given a phone number (9336199970) owned by Nihal to call or sent message in response. The code was ‘White’.

In the course of interrogation, Nihal, posted with SAT at Indira Bhawan, confessed to have been involved in the trade for last two years.

Nihal revealed that he used to contact and engage in chatting with the gay members at an Internet site.

The members used to exchange phone numbers also and following a regular conversation the members used to meet for physical intimacy. Nihal revealed that he had an intimacy with gay members at Jhansi, Delhi, Hapur, Bareilly and Chennai.

These members even used to interact with counterparts abroad too especially in Singapore and exchange visits for the same purpose, Nihal revealed.

He further revealed names of his partners identified as Prameet of 7-B, Dalibagh, Tilak Marg, Ashutosh Khanna of 501, A-block, Indira Nagar and Pankaj Gupta of 3/123, Vikas Nagar. Prameet was a teacher with St Anthony College, Telibagh while Ashutosh used to run an advertising agency and Pankaj had shop of painting.
