The city police on Sunday conducted an anti-terror mock drill at the Grand Mall on MG road and diverted traffic for about one hour.
A similar exercise was held at Ansal’s Plaza in Palam Vihar last week.
“A fake bomb was planted here. As it was still early for customers to pour in, there were only 300-350 people inside,” said mall manager Atul Sharma.
An ambulance, fire brigade, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and fingerprint expert were present at the spot along with deputy commissioner of police (east) Maheshwar Dyal, assistant commissioner of police (DLF) Surinder Singh, assistant commissioner of police (sadar) Krishan Murari and nearly 100 constables.
However, residents faced a tough time as traffic came to a standstill for nearly one hour.
Kiran Sharma, a resident, said, “If the administration wants to plan something, they should have done it in a better way. We end up wasting so much fuel and time.”
