The victim, 16, a native of Kharkhodda town in Sonepat district, was allegedly raped on January 5 by her neighbour. On Friday, she set herself ablaze after narrating the alleged incident to her family. The girl had suffered 90% burn injuries and was taken to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak. Doctors said a team of specialists from New Delhi had reached Rohtak for the victim's treatment but chances of survival were bleak.

The Sonepat police said they were in touch with touch with doctors for recording her statement.
