Assault on traders and threats to local residents have made the people determined to give a befitting reply to the don. Daliganj Vyapar Mandal has come out openly not to vote for Anna’s party, local residents have unanimously decided to stand with the traders on Tuesday.
On the other hand, the intelligence reports revealed that the don has asked his nephews and his henchmen to threaten people with dire consequences at the polling stations. It was also revealed Anna has assured his men not to fear the police action as he would ‘manage’ the top officials.
Talking to HT Lucknow Live on condition of anonymity, a wholesale grain trader said all the traders of Daliganj market were holding an emergency meeting on Monday night. They would decide in the meeting their plan of action as how to face Anna’s pressure on the day of polling. The traders’ association has also sent applications to senior police officials to prove adequate security at various polling centres in Daliganj area. They have feared attack from Anna and his henchmen on Tuesday.
Besides, HT Live also met some prominent residents of Daliganj area about their reaction over Anna’s terror during election campaign. These people expressed their views openly but requested for their anonymity. A senior official in secretariat said Anna and his nephews are seen as nuisance always in the area but they swing into ‘action’ especially during tenure of Samajwadi Party government.
However, the residents said they never cast their vote under duress of the don and this time Anna’s harassment has crossed all the limits. They would ensure that majority of the residents go against Samajwadi Party.
