“When a police team reached the venue to check alleged cow slaughter, violent mob started stone pelting on the police team in which three police constables received injuries,” an official said.

According to him, police had to fire five rounds and lob teargas shells to disperse the frenzied mob. “Two people have sustained bullet injuries when police fired,” he added. All injured were rushed to a local hospital.

The mob also held four police officers hostage and damaged two police vehicles. Later, additional forces were rushed to rescue the police officers held hostage by the villagers.
