Cops: No link with Masuri incident
A day after several pages of a religious book with some mobile numbers scribbled on it were found in the Prem Nagar area of Ghaziabad, senior police officials claimed the incident had no apparent connection with the previous one at Masuri, which took place on September 14. The pages were found around 11.15am in Prem Nagar on September 25.
Superintendent of police (SP) SS Yadav said no clear picture had emerged about the culprits behind Wednesday's incident.
"He was probably a drug add-ict who handed the pages to a scrap dealer, who then gave them to the Imam of a local mosque," Yadav added.
SP Yadav said the 11 mobile numbers found on the religious pages found in Prem Nagar were different from the ones at Masuri.
"The pages found at Prem Nagar were not defaced and no derogatory language was written over them. The mobile numbers and handwriting are different. We've got no clues that the incidents are linked," he said.
Officials said the person who wrote on the pages found in Prem Nagar seemed to be more educated than the one at Masuri.
"The pages at Prem Nagar had been definitely planted. It is an uphill task to identify culprits in such incidents. We have deployed intelligence and police personnel to nab them," Yadav said.
Police officials said the pages were sealed and handed over to the caretakers of the mosque at Prem Nagar.
The discovery of religious pages at Prem Nagar is the second such incident in Ghaziabad district in less than a fortnight.Local residents at Prem Nag-ar informed the police about the discovery.
