The personnel, numbering around 10, had deserted the convoy of vehicles used for providing security to Togadia, and reportedly taken part in a lunch hosted after his press conference at a hotel here on January 25, a senior police official said on Friday.

A departmental inquiry would be initiated after getting report from the Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) C M Pradeep Kumar, who was in-charge of providing security to Togadia, city Commissioner of Police S Sreejith told PTI.

"A departmental inquiry would certainly be ordered against the police personnel for deserting the convoy of vehicles used for providing security to Togadia," Sreejith said.

Kumar said that he had forwarded a report to the Police Commissioner against the personnel who were supposed to have guarded the vehicles rather than accepting the invitation by the VHP workers to join them for lunch.
