The police plan to set up round-the-clock barricades or checkposts on all entry and exit points of the city to keep a check on snatchers and criminals who sneak out through porous borders after committing crimes in Gurgaon.
“We will put up checkposts to keep a tab on two-wheelers. We don’t want to take any chances, so we are taking all precautions and keeping tight vigil on anti-social elements,” said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (east), Gurgaon.
Gurgaon shares its boundary with Delhi, Faridabad and other districts and a number of people enter the city on two-wheelers. Many of them are involved in cases of snatching, thefts.
‘Remove molestation video from facebook’
The Gurgaon Police are receiving flak from netizens for putting up a video on their Facebook page of the New Year’s Eve mayhem on MG Road where a girl was molested by an unruly mob. The video shows the girl’s face. The page has till now got 680 posts praising the police for rescuing the victim.
Kumar Vansaj posts, “Please hide the girl and boy’s face for their privacy.” Subroto Baul comments, “You guys did a super job… Please edit this video before someone starts blaming you for insensitivity. Please?”
DCP Maheshwar Dayal said, “It is not only the police who uploaded the video on the net. It is already there on Youtube. We uploaded the video to show what exactly happened.”
