He was delivering a lecture on ‘Careers in the Corporate Sector’ at the Sociology Department of the Social Science Faculty in Banaras Hindu University here on Saturday.
The Social Work Unit of the Sociology Department organised the lecture. Prof Chandra said the corporate sector in India had witnessed a handsome growth. Eighty-three companies had shown encouraging results, he said. They would require more manpower in the next two years, he said.
He said handsome growth was expected in certain sectors in the next two years. These include information technology, biotechnology, electronic media, travels and tours, hospitality, medical tourism, retail marketing, sports, aviation, human resource and infrastructure.
Prof Chandra is also the Industrial Relations Associaton of India former chairman. He said there would be around three lakh vacancies in the IT sector in the next two years. “Besides, there will be a large number of vacancies in electronic media and biotechnology. These sectors are growing at 18 per cent and 25 per cent respectively,” he added.
He told students how to prepare an impressive and customised bio-data. He said one should prepare a bio-data that reflected one’s strengths and achievements as per the requirements of the sector concerned.
